“We didn’t perform very well,” says Power Dynamos’ Mutapa despite 2-0 win over Napsa

Despite his team's victory over Napsa Stars at the Reiz Arena on Thursday, Mutapa was dissatisfied with their performance.

Power Dynamos fans may be celebrating their team’s one step closer to their eighth league title after their 2–0 win over Napsa Stars, but their coach, Oswald Mutapa, is not too pleased with their performance.

Mutapa, who is running to bag his second straight Bolanews Coach of the Month award, says his players did not give a good performance despite leaving Lusaka with all three points.

Titus Chansa opened the scoring from the spot in the 13th minute before Chifundo Mphasi doubled the advantage three minutes from the final whistle.

In his post-match interview, Mutapa said, “Yes, we got the goals and we got the results, but in terms of play, they were just moments in the game. So, yes, we got the result, but in terms of performance, we didn’t really perform very well.”

Power is firmly in the driving seat as they now have 60 points, six better than Zesco United, with 12 points still left to play for.

“We have shown consistency in terms of keeping a clean sheet. Throughout today [Thursday], we didn’t defend very well, especially in set pieces,” Mutapa said.

Mutapa is cautious; he maintains that his team has not wrapped up the league yet.

“Four games are twelve points, and it’s just a six-point difference with the second team. So, yes, closer. The next two games – maybe if you ask me the same question with the six-point difference, maybe I’ll be able to answer that,” he said when asked about his team’s chances of lifting the title.

His opposite number, Sipho Mumbi, described the loss to Power as painful.

“Very painful loss considering the fact that we played at home; the worst result we thought could have been a draw,” Mumbi said.
