“There is more pressure on Zambia than Gambia”- Bojang

He says his country will take the game as it comes, but the pressure is on the young Chipolopolo, who are looking for their first win at the 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Gambia U-20 National Team kicked off their Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a 1:0 victory against Tunisia to lead Group C with 3 points.

They return to action tonight against second-placed Zambia who drew 1-1 with Benin in their first match.

The Gambia will look to book a spot in the quarterfinals tonight before concluding their group games on Sunday against Benin.

Their head coach Abdoulie Bojang has, however, stressed that the team is not under pressure and will take each game as it comes.

“We are more relaxed at this point in time, even in the first game we dint have that much pressure the intention is to win, but we have to give all due respect to the opponent as well,” Bojang said during the post-match press conference.

“Every game is important, and we are going to take it game by game. We have watched Zambia play Benin; we try to know where their strengths and weaknesses are, and we try to be very cautious.

He added: “It’s a must-win game, we try to win and seek all the qualifications at an early stage that is the most important thing at this point in time.”

Bojang believes that more pressure is on Zambia than on his team.

“No game will be easy there is more pressure on Zambia than Gambia because it’s a must win game for them. Our primary objective is to win the game and have an automatic qualification,” he concluded.
