The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the date for the Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers draw.
According to CAF, the draw will take place on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, at 14:30 local time.
48 nations, including the four preliminary round winners (Chad, Eswatini, Liberia, and South Sudan), will be divided into 12 groups of four teams each to compete for a spot in the finals.
The confirmed nations for the draw include reigning African champions Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, the Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, and Ethiopia.
Other countries include Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
The qualifiers are set to begin in September 2024 to determine the first 24 nations to compete in Africa’s biggest event, the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, in Morocco in 2025.
