The Zambia U-17 national team has been drawn in Group A with hosts Morocco, Uganda, and Tanzania for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations
The tournament will run from March 30 to April 19, 2025, in Morocco.
In Group B, there is Burkina Faso, South Africa, Egypt, and the winner of the UNIFFAC 1 qualifier, while Group C consists of Senegal, Gambia, Somalia, and Tunisia.
Mali, Angola, Ivory Coast, and the winner of the UNIFFAC 2 qualifier have been placed in Group D.
Meanwhile, Zambia U-17 assistant coach Aaron Kamwanga has said preparations have been going well, expressing confidence in their readiness for the tournament and that they are ready to face any opponent.
“Preparations are going on very well. We had 40 players in camp. And, so far, they’ve shown a great attitude towards training,” Kamwanga said.
“The boys are showing great improvement. I’m sure this time around we are ready to take on anyone because these boys, before the COSAFA, had engaged in two international tournaments. One was in Morocco, and one was in Ivory Coast. So going into this one, it would be okay for the boys. Most of them have already tested international football before. I believe we should be good to compete.”
The U-17 AFCON will feature 16 teams competing and ten of them will qualify for the 48-team 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup that will be staged in Qatar from 5 to 27 November 2025.
