Red Arrows striker Sadam Phiri has observed that provincial Division One sides have given Super League teams a tough run in this season’s ABSA Cup.

Arrows are gearing up to face Play It Forward in the quarter-finals of the Cup at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe, and Phiri feels it won’t be an easy match.

“The provincial teams have not made it easy for us; they are good sides. This season, I think they have improved from last season, so we just have to be ready for them,” Phiri said.

To make it to the quarter-finals, Arrows beat Copperbelt side Zambezi Port Land 3 – 0 in a game that was tied in the first half.

They will be hoping they can bury this one ahead of time.

“We are ready and prepared; there is no small team, as we were preparing. We prepared as if we were playing any big team,” Arrows assistant coach Francis Kombe said.

Meanwhile, Play It Forward coach Staford Manda described the game as a time to show their talent.

“My boys know that this game is an opportunity to show their talent,” Manda said. “They want to prove that other coaches can get them to be part of their team.”
