Former Power Dynamos FC and Chipolopolo defender Francis Kasonde has described Sunday’s ABSA Cup Final between Power Dynamos and Red Arrows FC as an evenly balanced encounter.

The two sides are set to clash at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 15:00.

Speaking in an interview, Kasonde said the match is likely to be decided by tactical discipline and concentration, given the quality within both squads.

“It will be a tactical game looking at both teams. Both teams have quality players with good technique and, like I said, it will be more tactical,” Kasonde said.

The former defender described the final as a “50-50” contest, adding that maintaining concentration throughout the match could prove decisive.

“It’s a 50-50 game. The team with good concentration and application throughout the game will carry the day,” he said.

Penalties a possible decider – Kasonde

Kasonde also cautioned that the contest could go beyond regulation time, with penalties potentially needed to separate the two teams.

“We shouldn’t forget that it’s not only a game of two halves, but it can even go to penalties. It will be an exciting game to watch,” he added.

“It will be great to see Power Dynamos making it a double this season. May the best team win.”

Power Dynamos head into the final as one of the favourites after a strong league campaign, while Red Arrows will be aiming to end the season with silverware after missing out on the league title.

The 2025 edition of the Absa Cup will see the winner walking away with a whopping K1.1 million, while the runner-up will be given K450,000. The top scorer, the man of the match, the coach of the tournament and the player of the tournament will all pocket K25 000.
