Leicester City in ‘do or die’ match tonight

If the Foxes do not get three points tonight, they will be relegated from the Premier League should next Sunday's results elsewhere go against them.

Leicester City tonight visit Newcastle for their second-last Premier League match of the season which could either boost or sink their hope of surviving relegation.

With a win tonight, the Magpies can secure their place in the Champions League, while anything less than a win could see Leicester City relegated if Sunday’s results go against them.

Leeds United and Everton are the other two teams battling to survive relegation.

Leicester City are 19th on the table with 30 points with two games remaining, while Leeds are 18th with 30 points and one game left. Everton, on the other hand, are sitting 17th on the table with 33 points and one game remaining

A win for the Foxes tonight will take them out of the relegation zone and level on points with Everton. This means they will need only a point in their last game against West Ham should both Leeds and the Toffees lose their final games.

Everton will play Bournemouth while Leeds will host Tottenham on Sunday.

However, speaking ahead of the game, Leicester City manager Dean Smith expressed optimism that the team will avoid relegation and urged the players to give it their all as they face a difficult opponent tonight.

“If we get the performance we are capable of, then we can do it. We need to be hard to beat and use the ball well when we have it. It’s our Cup final,” Smith said.

“I don’t want to change tactics based on what we need,” the gaffer stated. “I know we need at least a point.”

The Leicester City manager has urged fans not to give up but to rally behind the team.

“It hasn’t filtered in at all. We are in a position we don’t want to be in. My job hasn’t changed. We are still in the positions we were. It was going to be tough to get points from Man City and Liverpool. That’s why the Fulham one has hurt us the most.”
