Power Dynamos goalkeeper Lawrence Mulenga has voiced out following his outing with the Chipolopolo boys at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations AfCON tournament in Morocco.
Mulenga did not feature in any of the matches for the 2012 AfCON winners.
For the second time in a row, Zambia failed to progress beyond the group stage finishing third, having managed to record two draws and one defeat.
Prior to the tournament, Mulenga was in goal in the international friendly match against Congo DRC prior to the tournament.
Speaking to Bolanews in an exclusive interview, Mulenga acknowledged that playing for the national team belongs to any player who deserves it and not an individual.
“These things happen; it’s the nature of the game. It’s playing for the country and not a club, so when you are not given a chance, you support and rally behind the players that have been given a chance in the starting eleven,” he said.
The Power Dynamos goalie noted that he had a good experience at the competition.
“Otherwise the experience was good, and we had a good outing despite exiting the tournament in the first stage, something we didn’t look forward to,” added Mulenga.
Mulenga has shifted attention to his club, Power Dynamos, as they seek to defend the league title as well as a positive campaign in the CAF Champions league.
