He also disclosed that fans from 100 countries have already bought tickets for the tournament.

“So far fans from exactly 100 different countries of residence have secured passes for this once-in-a-lifetime event, highlighting the passion and excitement that exists around the world for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Kicking off on 20 July 2023, the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 will feature 32 teams competing in 64 matches across nine host cities.

29 of the 32 competing nations are locked in, with the final three teams to be determined at the inaugural FIFA Women’s World Cup Play-Off Tournament in February 2023.

Zambia’s Copper Queens qualified for their first ever FIFA Women’s World Cup after finishing a record 3rd place at the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco where they defeated Nigeria 1-0.

The Copper Queens have been drawn in Group C alongside Spain, Japan and Costa Rica.

Zambia will represent the continent alongside Nigeria, South Africa and Morocco while Senegal and Cameroon are waiting to know their fate after the intercontinental playoffs.

The Copper Queens will kick start their campaign with a match against Japan on 22 July 2023 before taking on European giants Spain on 26 July 2023. The final group match will be against South American nation of Costa Rica on 31 July 2023.
