Zambian winger Chipyoka Songa has completed a permanent move to Portuguese Primeira Liga side Moreirense FC from Israeli club Hapoel Petah Tikva.
The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract with the Portuguese top-flight club after completing his medical examinations in Portugal.
Songa’s move brings to an end his spell with Hapoel Petah Tikva, where he spent one season in the Israeli Premier League after previously featuring for second-tier side Ness Ziona.
According to his agent, Nir Karin, the transfer took considerable time to complete but was eventually finalised following negotiations involving the clubs.
“The move is a significant step forward for Songa, who is expected to make his Moreirense debut against Portuguese giants Benfica on September 9,” Karin said.
Karin added that he was proud of Songa’s progress and believes the move represents another important step in the winger’s career.
Songa began his career in Zambia, where he featured for Zesco United, Lusaka Dynamos and Shamuel before moving to Israel. He also represented Zambia at youth and senior international levels.
His move to Moreirense represents another milestone in his career as he begins a new chapter in European football.
