ZESCO United coach Mwenya Chipepo has revealed the targets set by the club’s hierarchy following his appointment, with the former Power Dynamos and Nkana coach tasked with reviving the team and delivering the league title.
Chipepo said the expectations were clear when he was handed the job, with the club demanding points and trophies.
“When they give you a job, what else do they need? They need points, they need trophies, they need a league,” Chipepo told reporters after watching his side beat Democratic Republic of Congo side SC Simba 1-0 at Arthur Davies Stadium.
Chipepo said he was clear about where he wants to take the club and pledged to improve every player under his charge.
“Every player who is at Zesco is going to improve under me. Pressure will always be there. The most important thing is to work hard. I am sure I am going to work hard at Zesco,” he said.
Commenting on the result, Chipepo said he was pleased with the victory but acknowledged that there was still room for improvement.
“I am happy we have won, although we did not play the game people expected. I would like to thank the guys for the hard work they have put in because it is not easy to play three games in the space of six days,” he said.
