Hardrock Football Club reclaimed second position in the Zimbabwe Premier Soccer League standings following a 4-0 home victory over ZPC Kariba in a Week 19 encounter.
The result saw Kelvin Kaindu’s side move up to second place with 35 points from 18 matches, while league leaders Scottland sit at the summit with 40 points from 19 games.
Hardrock still have a pending disciplinary case arising from a disputed match against sixth-placed Dynamos.
Speaking to Bola News, Kaindu reflected on how his team has managed to maintain consistency from the first round into the second half of the season.
“I would describe the first round as good; we showed a lot of maturity in the way we have handled the matches despite being the first season for the club,” he said.
“Our strength in the first round of the campaign was the ability to get goals from anyone. Every player contributed positively going forward, which was key.”
As of Week 19, Kaindu’s side are the league’s highest scorers with 28 goals, followed by leaders Scottland and Dynamos, who have both netted 27 times.
Reacting to the emphatic victory, which was inspired by striker Washington Navaya’s brace that took his tally to 10 goals for the season, Kaindu praised the team’s unity and collective attacking threat.
“Yesterday’s game also showed the same quality of goal scoring: two goals from our midfielders and two from our leading goal scorer. This is what we have been working on as we get to settle in our maiden season,” he stated.
