Zambian defender, Chitoshi Chinga has reacted to CAPS United’s 2-1 away win over archrivals Highlanders in a Week 9 encounter played at Barbourfields Stadium.

It was the first time CAPS United was winning a match at Barboursfield Stadium since their 1-0 win in 2015.

CAPS United opened the scoring through Kudzai Chigwida in the 36th minute to put the visitors ahead at the break.

Malawi international striker Lloyd Njaliwa doubled the lead in the 65th minute.

Highlanders only started to respond ten minutes later, pulling one goal back through substitute Darlington Mukuli.

The win extended their lead at the summit by four points, leaving newcomers Hardrock in second position with 18 points.

In an interview from his base, Chinga described the ‘battle of the cities’ as a tough encounter.

Chinga also explained that what made the win special is the fact that they have not won at the venue for a long time.

“The game was tough, but we managed to get the important results,” he said.

“It was very important not only for the points but also for the CAPS faithful because the team has not won there for over 10 years, so it was a very big win, and everyone is so excited.”

He also stated that the win has reinforced belief with the squad, as the players and the technical bench are in tandem with the season objectives.

Meanwhile, Kelvin Kaindu has expressed contentment with a point on the road against Manica Diamonds. His side played out to a 0-0 draw.

“It was a tough match, but the players executed the tactical plan very well. We equally had chances that could have given us the three points on the day,” Kaindu said.
