Chipolopolo forward Fashion Sakala is being pursued by Suadi Pro League club Al-Ettifaq after a successful season with Al-Fayha.
In his debut season in the Saudi Pro League, the 27-year-old scored 19 goals and assisted six times. He was also Al-Fayha’s top scorer in the AFC Champions League, scoring three goals and assisting twice in eight games.
Prior to his unexpected move to Saudi Arabia, the Chipolopolo forward scored 24 goals and assisted 15 times in 91 Rangers appearances, including the Scottish Cup.
When asked if he plans to return to Europe, Sakala stated that he is happy in Saudi Arabia and fully committed to his current club.
“I am not thinking about that [returning to Europe],” he responded in an interview with BolaNews in November.
Sakala is committed to Al-Fayha; however, his impressive debut season in the Saudi Pro League has reportedly prompted offers that may be too appealing.
Last week, Saudi publication Asharq Al-Awsat reported that Al-Ettifaq coach Steven Gerrard, who previously led Sakala at Rangers in Scotland, wants to reunite the forwards.
According to the report, Gerrard sees Sakala as one of his top priorities in the market if the team can secure a place on the foreign list.
Sakala finished tied for third in the Saudi Professional League scoring chart this season with Abderrazak Hamdallah, trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo and Aleksandar Mitrovic.
