Prison Leopards head coach Lameck Banda believes the team’s chances of avoiding relegation are 50/50, but he will hope for the best.
On Wednesday, Prisons and Forest Rangers drew 1-1 at Dolahill Stadium in Week 28.
In a closely contested match, the home side took the lead in the 65th minute through Eric Chomba, before the visitors equalised in the 81st minute through David Obashi.
Prison Leopards head coach Lameck Banda told journalists after the game that his team created chances, but the strikers were not clinical on goal.
“It was a tough game as usual because there are no easy games and this one was one of them, I think we had an opportunity where we could have gone ahead, but we lacked a lot of confidence and belief upfront.
“The draw means a lot because at the rate we are going, we can not afford to drop points completely, but at least we have picked a point and we will build from that and see how we can play against Trident,” said Banda.
Banda continued: “I think we will maximise on our home ground advantage so that at least if we can collect maximum points at home, obviously we will have something good at the end of the season.
“Chances are 50/50 but we will keep on working hard and see how we can end the season. I think the problem has been the mentality. You know, a poor mentality will always affect whatever you are doing so if we can improve on the mentality, then winning won’t be a problem. We work on the mentality of players, results will come,” Banda said.
The correct boys will face Trident on Sunday as both teams battle to move out of the relegation zone.
To avoid relegation, Prison will need to collect nine points in their next three games and hope that other teams lose points.
They are 16th in the standings, with 27 points from 28 matches, having won 6, drawn 9, and lost 13.
