Uganda defeated Niger 2-0 on Thursday at the Grand Stade Marrakech in Morocco; however, they were unable to earn a spot in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition, which will take place in Ivory Coast the following year.

The Cranes needed to win in order to advance to Africa’s top competition; they were tied for fourth with 4 points. They were counting on Algeria to win.

Abdu Aziizi kayondo and Joseph Ochaya scored the two first half goals for the Cranes to claim their emphatic victory.

However, despite the victory the goalless draw between Algeria and Tanzania meant that the two teams qualified denying Uganda a chance.

However, despite their victory some fans took to social media to express their consternation calling for coach Micho’s sacking.

Bazanye George posted “Micho out.” While Phil Ramos expressed happiness with the team’s performance but called for Coach Micho’s dismissal “Great improvement shown, but next time try to perfect it, I think it’s time for Micho to go.”

Another one posted “We need a new coach ” Fredricks Ssuuna. On the other hand, Joseph Gray Draxler still feels the Country still needs the services of the Serbian wolf “In Micho we trust.”

Emege Kingsley Hamza Kuchu commented “Get back to the drawing board and fix all what led to the team not to qualify and most notably let government speed up renovation of Namboole Stadium. I’m Pretty sure Uganda would have at least picked maximum points in one of the three matches had we hosted the matches in our fortress,”

Will Micho survive?

“Congratulations lads, you did your best despite Challenges surrounding you” posted Kassim Nyonyi.

“Micho is innocent,” declared Rob Rose Akol, and “Congratulations Uganda wanted nothing less than a win they got it,” wrote Musoke Absolom.

“Thanks, our boys you did your part next time we will be there never giving up” commented Kagga Simon.

For the time being, we’ll have to wait and watch if the Serbian wolf will continue to lead the Uganda national team.
