Zesco United scores late to earn a point, Trident sinks Maite

At Shinde stadium, Trident football club managed to win their second league match in a row, but they are still at the bottom.

Zesco United, the seven-time league champions, secured a point against Zanaco, cutting the deficit to seven points with Red Arrows leading the table.

With same number of matches played (27) in the 2023-24 season, Arrows have 57 points while Zesco have 50 points.

At Shinde stadium, Trident football club managed to win their second league match in a row, but they are still at the bottom.

Trident, headed for relegation, they defeated Mufulira Wanderers 1-0. Although the victory appears “too little, too late,” it also pushes Mighty, a famed team, into the relegation zone.

The battle for the league crown, saw, Zesco United, who trail log leaders Red Arrows avoided defeat with a late equalizer to earn a 2-2 draw against visiting Zanaco.

In another match, Green Eagles from Choma, led by interim coach Kebby Hachipuka, defeated Kansanshi Dynamos 4-1.

Prison Leopards who last week frustrated 13-time champions, Nkana with a nil all draw punished FC MUZA via a 3-2 victory. The defeat put to an end the five-match unbeaten run FC MUZA of Mazabuka, in this match, their hit-man Andrew Phiri was red-carded.

As the D-Zone teams of Mufulira Wanderers, Kansanshi Dynamos, Prison Leopards, and Trident prepare for Week 28, the struggle for survival will intensify. These teams will aim for nothing less than success in order to stay in the Elite division.
