ZESCO United Football Club interim coach Emmanuel Siwale described Sunday’s draw with Zanaco Football Club as frustrating.

The Ndola side drew for the second time in a row, this time without scoring against the Bankers.

Siwale stated that the two sets of technical benches largely determined the tactical aspects of the match, making it a difficult one.

He also regretted the missed chances from his team.

“It was a tough game. As usual, we are playing Zanaco; they are experienced, and it was very tactical. But I thought maybe the chances that we had in the first half, maybe it would have been a different story even towards the end,” Siwale said.

“I know we’ve dropped points, especially at home, but we don’t know what this point would do to us. That is better than nothing. I know people would not understand or accept that, but this is the result that we got.”

Zesco remains atop the league table

Following Power Dynamos’ win over Lumwana Radiants, Zesco United now leads the Kitwe side by two points.

ZESCO is at the top of the table with 21 points, with Power Dynamos in second with 19 points, while Green Buffaloes and Red Arrows close the top four with 18 and 17 points, respectively.

Siwale is not shaken by the reduction in the points gap, stating that the focus is what the team is capable of doing to get back to winning ways.

“We just have to concentrate on ourselves. Because if we start looking at others, we may lose focus. So ours is to work hard so that they can come back. It’s important that they [players] stand strong and be focused because this is not the end of the road. We have no more to go.

ZESCO’s next opponent will be against Green Buffaloes at the Edwin Imboela Stadium in Lusaka this Saturday.
