Sensational Zanaco FC have sacked head coach Kelvin Kaindu and the club’s consultant, Emmanuel Amunike, with immediate effect.

According to a club statement made available to BolaNews on Monday afternoon, former Chipolopolo coach Wedson Nyirenda will take over as head coach on an interim basis until the end of the season.

“The Board of Directors and Management of Zanaco Football Club wishes to announce that the Club has separated with the consultant coach Mr. Emmanuel Amunike and the Assistant Coach Mr. Emeka Amadi with immediate effect. The Club has also separated with the Head Coach, Mr. Kelvin Kaindu, ” read part of the statement.

The club further stated that it is “delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Wedson Witson Nyirenda as Interim Head Coach for the remaining period of the current season.”

The sacking of Amunike and Kaindu comes after a string of poor results for the Bankers, who are 14th in the standings with 34 points, two points above the drop zone.

They leave Zanaco winless in their last eight games, losing five and drawing three times.

Nyirenda, who was previously coaching Mozambican top-flight side Clube Ferroviário da Beira, now has a huge task ahead of him to help Zanaco avoid relegation in the remaining six games.
