“We’ve To Be Offensive” – Chiyangi Reveals Plan As Nkwazi Face Red Arrows

Aggrey Chiyangi, head coach of Nkwazi Football Club, has made hints about his team’s strategy for tomorrow’s Week 26 MTN Super League game against Red Arrows.

Nkwazi, currently sixth on the log with 40 points, will be looking to recover from last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Mufulira Wanderers.

The match slated for Edwin Imboela Stadium promises a lot of sparks; aside from being a Lusaka derby, there is a possibility of Nkwazi leapfrogging defending champions Red Arrows with a win on Saturday afternoon.

In a pre-match interview, Chiyangi says the target going into the match against the Airmen will be to collect maximum points.

“We have to focus on a win as we play against the Red Arrows. It’s going to be tough, but what is important is for us to make sure that we plan well and take advantage of situations that will happen on the pitch,” said Chiyangi.

“We Make It Difficult For Them” – Chiyangi.

Nkwazi had one of the best defensive records in the first round when they kept nine clean sheets but have allowed goals in every match since the start of the second round.

“What is important is that football has two phases: attack and defense. And sometimes when you concede, it’s because of the mistakes you make. So what we continue doing is that we work on the mistakes and remind the players of the mistakes that they should not repeat in the next game,” he stated.

Chiyangi added, “But, again, when you look at football, it doesn’t mean the same mistakes that you made are the same mistakes that are going to occur in the next game. All those are different phases of the game. All in all, we always work on our defensive formation, and we will also work on our offensive formation.”

Chiyangi has alluded to the strategy he plans to use to prevent their Lusaka rivals from stealing another three points on Saturday after Nkwazi lost 1-0 to Red Arrows in the opening round.

“When we played against them, we were a bit cautious in the first half, but I think this one, we have to be offensive, especially when we start the game because we don’t want to allow a situation where we give them so many options to score against us,” Chiyangi revealed.

“We have to make sure that we make it difficult for them and find a way of scoring against them. We know they’ve got a very strong defense, but we’ll try by all means to make sure that we go round their defense.”
