Geoffrey Hamakwenda has left Mines United FC by mutual agreement, paving the way for the appointment of Christopher ‘Gaza’ Tembo as the club’s new head coach ahead of their maiden campaign in the MTN Super League.
Hamakwenda led the team to Super League promotion, and the club thanked him for his contribution in an official statement.
“We would like to thank Coach Hamakwenda for his service and massive contribution to Mines United. We wish him all the best in his future engagements,” the club said.
However, Tembo’s arrival is anticipated to provide a wealth of knowledge to guide them through their first season.
Tembo, recently led Malanti Chiefs to the NFD Championship title in Eswatini.
His coaching career also includes a stint with Manzini Sundowns in Swaziland.

Speaking at his unveiling, Club Chairman Mathew Mohan expressed confidence in Tembo’s ability to bring success to the club.
“We believe Coach Tembo’s leadership and experience will be crucial in shaping the future of Mines United. We are excited to have him on board and are looking forward to achieving great things together,” said Mohan.
