Nkana Football Club head coach Mwenya Chipepo has revealed that he is relieved after his team recorded their fifth consecutive win in the MTN Super League to remain unbeaten in 2026.
Nkana secured maximum points in a Week 19 Super League encounter played on Wednesday, with striker Idris Mbombo scoring the decisive goal in the 63rd minute after a goalless first half.
Chipepo, whose team struggled to get out of the relegation zone, said, “We are very happy as the technical bench, and even the supporters and executives are happy.”
Chipepo admitted that, “We suffered a lot, and now the players are showing that they have good character.”
Nkana have now turned their attention to Saturday’s Week 20 fixture against Green Buffaloes at REIZ Arena in Lusaka, where they are targeting another victory.
“This win has given us more confidence. Playing Green Buffaloes is like playing Nkwazi because they play the same type of football. We just have to prepare well and make sure we pick another three points.”
Following Wednesday’s victory, Nkana moved up to ninth place on the MTN Super League table with 25 points, continuing their steady climb up the standings. They could move into fourth place with a win on Saturday, provided teams above them drop points.
