ZESCO United interim head coach Emmanuel Siwale has issued a rallying call to his team, urging them to secure all three points in today’s Week 31 MTN Super League clash against Kabwe Warriors.
Currently sitting second on the table with 54 points, the Ndola-based side travels to Kabwe to face the fourth-placed Warriors, who trail them by just five points and will be looking to close the gap at Godfrey Chitalu Stadium.
Speaking in a pre-match interview, Siwale acknowledged the tough challenge ahead, especially with Kabwe Warriors’ strong home form. However, buoyed by their recent 3-1 victory over Barts FC in the Absa Cup, he expressed confidence in his squad’s ability to rise to the occasion.
“The preparation has been going very well. The boys have responded well in training, and they are ready and eager to play Kabwe Warriors. I know it’s not going to be easy. It’s going to be tough. Mind you, this is a team that beat us at home,” Siwale said.
Siwale noted that his players are especially motivated to defeat Kabwe Warriors, who handed them a 2-0 loss in the first round in Ndola. He added that recent coaching changes at Warriors won’t alter ZESCO United’s approach to the match.
“And if they can do it here, we can as well do it there. And that’s why the boys are looking forward to tomorrow so that we can correct maximum points.”
“Kabwe Warriors is Kabwe Warriors. We are just coaches. I know any coach can come up with his tactics, but the fact is that it was a team that beat us last time around.
“So, we have worked hard and prepared well, and we are looking forward to the game tomorrow [today] and collecting maximum points because we very much need the three points tomorrow.”
