Napsa Stars head coach Sipho Mumbi has bemoaned his team’s lack of finishing touch following a 1-nil home defeat to Nkana Football Club at the REIZ Arena in Lusaka on Saturday afternoon.

The pensioners suffered a second consecutive loss while Kalampa managed to get their first win of the season courtesy of a Harrison Chisala 37th-minute strike.

The Lusaka side now sits 14th on the table with points, from one win, a draw, and two defeats.

Reacting to the result, Mumbi said his side missed a number of chances that could have changed the scores at the end of the match.

Mumbi states that he is worried about a lack of goals for Napsa Stars, especially when they are playing at home, as both of their goals have come while playing away.

“Disappointed considering that we had controlled the game more, especially in the first half, but controlling the game is not enough; we need to score goals; that’s what we missed in today’s game,” Mumbi said.

“Of course, we are now getting concerned because we’ve lost two games in concession at home; we need to address this; if we can’t win at home, it will be difficult out there.”

“It was a game of mixed emotions”-Mumbi.

The gaffer has vowed to work the striking department in order to turn the club’s disastrous past two matches into positive results.

“This is the second game we have played and we haven’t scored; it’s something we have been trying to address since preseason. We’ll continue working on it; it is going to be slow, but it’s going to be moving. We are playing football, but it is just the final third where we need to bury those chances,” he stated.

Mumbi also congratulated his former head coach Ian Bakala for the win while adding that he is relishing the return leg as the season unfolds.

Sipho watches his side from the touchline at REIZ arena.

“It was a game of mixed emotions; it is a team that I worked for last season; emotionally, it was something else for me. Once you coach a team like Nkana, which doesn’t happen every day, you’ve got to cherish those moments,” Mumbi said.

He adds, “Bakala kept calling me; I don’t know he was trying to get into my head or make me relax, but I knew his strategy. I wanted to prove a point as well. Congratulations to him; hopefully in the in the second round we’ll do the needful.”
