FC Muza striker Rickson Ng’ambi is eyeing to set his own goal-scoring record this season in the Zambian Super League.
Ng’ambi has so far scored three goals and provided one assist in five matches, helping his team set the pace in the domestic league.
In addition to being a member of the Zambia U20 team that won the Cosafa Cup in Eswatini in 2022, the 18-year-old striker won the 2019 U17 Cosafa Championship as the joint-top scorer with five goals.
Ng’ambi was also part of the Chisi Mbewe squad that participated in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, earlier this year.
In an exclusive interview with Bolanews, Ng’ambi said his performance is inspired by his compatriots plying their trade abroad.
“I think I have prepared so well. I started even before the pre-season to prepare for this season,” he told BolaNews.
“And I am motivated by seeing what other Zambian players are doing abroad. The people around me believe in me; I think that pushes me to work harder,” he said.
Ng’ambi eyes double-figure goals this season
The Elegant Dynamites striker responded that he wants to score more than 15 goals this season when asked about his target.
“I think this season I will try and go as far as I can,” stated Ng’ambi. ” Because, as a striker, I can’t limit myself for now. If I can do 15 goals, then it’s okay.”

He added that his Muza side is ready for Sunday’s Caf Confederations Cup return leg against Daibles Noirs in Congo Brazzaville.
“So far, we have prepared so well for the game on Sunday. As everyone knows we just have to win at all costs for us to qualify,” he said.
Muza needs to overturn a 2-1 aggregate scoreline to qualify for the group stage. They lost the first leg at home, but Ng’ambi is confident of a positive outcome on Sunday.
“We lost the game at home, but as that side, we are prepared…… And we know what it takes for us to qualify,” he told BolaNews. “We will do more than people expect.”
