Power Dynamos founder Meyton Kaira was yesterday put to rest. The club president, Bennie Simukoko, delivered a moving speech that highlighted Kaira’s significant contributions to the club and the community.
The funeral, attended by family, friends, and members of the football community, was a moment to celebrate and honour the legacy of a man who lived a life of fulfillment, perseverance, and determination.
“Today brings a heavy heart for all of us assembled here, yet as a community, we celebrate and honor the legacy of Mr. Kaira,” Simukoko said in a speech read for him by club committee member Brian Chishimba. “As Power Dynamos, we recognize that our existence is a testament to the remarkable contributions of Mr. Kaira, and his name will forever be a part of our story.”
Kaira founded Power as a youth team in the 1970s.
“Mr. Kaira’s journey in building the club is a testament to what can be achieved with hard work, dedication, and a clear vision. His commitment to the team and its success is a reminder that working together can produce great results.”
The sponsor, Copperbelt Energy Corporation PLC (CEC), and the club expressed their solidarity with the bereaved family during this challenging time.
“Go well, gallant son of the soil. Your legacy will continue to live on for many generations to come,” he said.
