Former Zambian footballer Nchimunya Mweetwa has called for live televised debates for all candidates running for the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) presidency.
The elective general meeting will take place on March 29 in Livingstone, with five candidates, including incumbent president Andrew Kamanga, vying for the role.
Mweetwa stresses the need for transparency and believes the debate will allow candidates to present their manifestos in detail, helping voters make informed decisions.

Mweetwa states that there is a need to host a live debate for the candidates to share their manifestos in a detailed manner.
“Football and politics are intertwined, making transparency and accountability crucial. To achieve this, let’s host live debates with aspiring football presidency candidates,” Mweetwa stated.
“This will increase transparency, allowing stakeholders to make informed decisions, hold candidates accountable for their promises, and foster inclusivity, engaging stakeholders, fans, sponsors, and athletes,” he said.
“Key topics should include football development strategies, athlete well-being and safety, and governance and transparency,” Mweetwa concluded.
