Power Dynamos head coach Oswald Mutapa has expressed his satisfaction with the team’s recent performances, following a string of poor results earlier in the season.

The ‘Aba Yellow’ secured a 2-0 victory over FC Muza in their Week 25 fixture of the Super League at the Arthur Davies Stadium on Sunday, extending their impressive run to four consecutive wins.

The victory propelled Power Dynamos into second place on the league table with 45 points, leapfrogging Kabwe Warriors, who have dropped to third.

Earlier in the season, Mutapa faced calls for his dismissal due to the team’s disappointing form, but the recent resurgence has reignited their hopes of finishing in the top two, securing a spot in continental football.

Speaking after the match, Mutapa expressed his contentment with the team’s improvement. “It was an important victory; we needed the result. It was a tough game, and I think we caused problems for ourselves by not utilizing the chances we created in the first half. Muza played well, and at times, they denied us a goal. They know we are a ball-playing team,” said Mutapa.

The former Nkwazi boss also highlighted the team’s growing consistency, particularly in terms of both winning and scoring. “Even when we lost, I feel we played very well. We created a lot of chances, and it was just a matter of scoring. But in the last four games, we’ve scored more than two goals each time, so we will continue to do what’s good and play with high intensity,” he added.

Looking ahead, Mutapa emphasized the team’s goal of securing continental football. “Continental football is one of the benchmarks we have set for ourselves. Of course, we will face Absa and try to win it. Yes, it’s difficult, but to be champions, we have to beat the best,” he stated.

Power Dynamos’ next Super League fixture will be a highly anticipated clash against Kabwe Warriors at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium on Saturday.
