The MTN entered week nine this weekend with Nkana FC’s struggles continuing while Konkola Blades stunned Green Buffaloes with FC MUZA defeating Napsa Stars in Mazabuka.
Nkana FC 0–1 Mufulira Wanderers
Nkana suffered their fourth consecutive defeat in the MTN Super League after a disappointing 0-1 defeat at home to Mufulira Wanderers to remain winless in eight games this season and sit in the relegation zone with just five points. William Kamwanga’s stoppage-time strike (45+3’) made the difference for Wanderers. Nkana pushed for an equalizer in the second half but couldn’t find a breakthrough, extending their struggles this season.
“We are disappointed, especially that we were playing at home. Our soccer fans came in numbers and they are disappointed as well. These are not good results,” Nkana head coach Mwenya Chipepo said. “We expected to take three points today. If you look at the chances we had, we missed a lot of chances. We need to look at Mufulira Wanderers, they only had two shots at goal. So it’s a very disappointing game.”
Asked about lack of depth in his squad, Chipepo responded: “These are the players who are available. We cannot go and steal players from other clubs at the moment. The only players we are using are the ones who are available.”
Kansanshi Dynamos 1–1 Mines United
Kansanshi Dynamos’ nine match winless run continued today after holding Mines United to a 1-1 draw.
Mines United took the lead through Prince Shapota in the 70th minute, but Willy Bikingo equalized for Kansanshi Dynamos five minutes later. Both sides shared the spoils in a tightly contested encounter in Solwezi.
FC MUZA 3–2 Napsa Stars
It was a thrilling five-goal match in Mazabuka. Godfrey Binga scored twice for Napsa Stars (24’, 26’) to give the visitors an early lead, but MUZA staged a remarkable comeback. Chanda Chileshe converted a 66th-minute penalty before Francis Mukuka (83’) and Gift Simanansa (85’) struck late to seal an impressive turnaround for the hosts.
Nkwazi FC 0–0 Red Arrows
A cagey affair in Lusaka ended goalless as both teams failed to capitalize on their chances. Red Arrows dominated possession, but Nkwazi’s defense held firm to earn a valuable point. The Airmen have now temporarily gone on top of the table with 18 points level with Zanaco but with a superior goal difference.
Konkola Blades 2–0 Green Buffaloes
Konkola Blades secured an important home victory with goals from Glenn Afful (37’) and Golden Zansi (47’). The win boosts their confidence as they continue to climb the table, while Buffaloes’ inconsistent form persists.
