Red Arrows FC have maintained leadership of the Super League after a comfortable 3-1 victory against Zesco United in a Week 22 encounter at Nkoloma Stadium on Sunday.

The airmen got their goals through Angel Lubamba, Allasane Diarra and Albert Kangwanda.

Red Arrows lead the table with 43 points, a point ahead of defending champions, Power Dynamos, on 42 points, having played 20 games, two less against Arrows.

Amine Hiver scored the consolation for the away side.

In a post match interview, Chisi Mbewe described the match against Zesco a tough game.

He dedicated the win to the sponsors, Zambia Air Force (ZAF).

“A very important victory for us. “It’s a sweet victory for us, and it’s a present to the Zambia Air Force because today is Air Force Day, the Air Force Commander had sent a message to the team that all he wanted was a present from the team for this Air Force day and we have fulfilled.”

“It’s Painful” – Siwale.

Zesco United head coach Emmanuel Siwale conceded defeat.

“I accept that we have lost,” Siwale said. “It’s worrying but we just have to soldier on because what’s happening has never happened in a while. I wouldn’t say much but I would just say we’ve lost.”

He also acknowledged that the defeat has put pressure on the team.

ZPL full time scores.

“[There’s pressure] As a team because we are not getting wins so of course when you don’t win it’s not good for the team, the management and the fans, traveling from Ndola to here. It’s painful, and that’s why I am saying it’s defeat that we will accept that we lost. We lost as a team.”

He has bemoaned the lack of clinical finishing from the team.

“That was the case in Chililabombwe, we created as many chances that on a good day we could have carried the day. Just like here, that’s why I don’t want to have something like an excuse, but we can put the ball in the net. It’s worrisome and it is something else.”
