A Nkana fan has been arrested by Kitwe police for allegedly causing a road obstruction incident that resulted in damage to an FC MUZA team bus near Nkana Stadium.

Copperbelt Police Commanding Officer Mwala Yuyi confirmed the arrest, saying the suspect allegedly used a Toyota Runx to repeatedly block a moving team bus carrying FC MUZA players as they were heading to Nkana Stadium for a Super League match.

Police say the incident was reported by FC MUZA driver Mapulanga Event, 60, who stated that the vehicle, a pink Toyota Runx, initially began blocking the bus about 200 metres before the stadium entrance. The driver further reported that the same vehicle continued to obstruct the bus several times along the approach road before eventually blocking it again roughly 50 metres from the stadium gate.

It is alleged that in an attempt to avoid a collision, the bus driver swerved, causing the vehicle to mount the pavement, burst its tyres, and sustain damage to the radiator. Two front tyres were reportedly damaged in the incident.

According to police, the driver of the Toyota Runx, identified as Mwila Joseph Nsofwa, 32, was later apprehended and is in custody. The vehicle has also been impounded.

Mr Yuyi said the suspect has been charged with causing obstruction of a roadway by motor vehicle and will be dealt with in accordance with the law as investigations continue.
