Nkana stretched their unbeaten streak to eight matches after seeing off Leopards FC 2–0 at Nkana Stadium in a Week 18 fixture.
After a difficult start to the campaign, Nkana have turned a corner and are now eight games without defeat.
“I am very happy; everyone is excited. Playing a team under the log is not easy, but I was very happy with the performance,” Nkana coach Mwenya Chipepo said in an interview after the game.
Chipepo is happy with the team’s current good run, but there is no need to get carried away.
“Everyone is fit, and if you look at the combinations, the players have gelled; we will have room for improvement,” Chipepo said.
The opening goal arrived in the 41st minute. Harrison Chisala’s cross across the face of the goal was not properly dealt with, falling kindly to Charles Zulu, who set up Ngulube to finish at the far post.
Leading at the break, the points were eventually sealed in stoppage time when Oliver Lumbiya tapped in from a Charles Zulu corner in the 90th minute.
Leopards coach Albert Kachinga cut a disappointed figure after the game.
“We should not be conceding such goals at this level,” Kachinga said.
Meanwhile, Mufulira Wanderers also defeated Mines United 1-0, while Mutondo Stars and Nchanga Rangers played a 0-0 draw.
