Last weekend Green Buffaloes FC striker Martin Njobvu returned to action after ten months of nursing an injury.

The talisman sustained a career-ending injury last season against Buildcon FC in Ndola during a super league match on 24th April 2022.

Njobvu was on the scoresheet in that match, which ended 1-2 in favour of the Buffaloes—that goal was his 10th of the season.

However, as the match progressed he collided with the Buildcon goalkeeper Mulenga Mulenga and suffered a fracture dislocation.

Before, getting injured, Njobvu had formed one of the deadliest striking partnerships in the Zambian Super League with Friday Samu who is now at Maritzburg United.

The duo scored a combined total of 20 goals and were crucial in Buffaloes’ campaign.

However, things had fallen apart when Samu was signed by Maritzburg in the January transfer window with Njobvu also sustaining an injury.

“My dream is to play in Europe.” – Njobvu

In an exclusive interview with BolaNews, Njobvu expressed his excitement at returning to action after surviving a career-ending injury.

“It feels good to be back; I’m excited to return to action after a long time, and most importantly, to be able to train and play with my friends again,” he said.

Njobvu also said that he wants to help his team, which is currently second in the league standings with 43 points, finish the season strong.

“I am a striker and my job is to score goals,” he said. “In the remaining games, I want to help my team finish in a more respectable position and I will work hard and try my best.”

In 2018 Njobvu attended trials at Austrian giants RB Salzburg, but the deal fell through.

The Buffaloes talisman has, however, set making a move to Europe one of his targets.

“Yes, my dream is to play in Europe one day, and I have always been working towards achieving that, of course, and one day it will be a reality,” he told BolaNews.

Njobvu made a name for himself in 2017 at the COSAFA under-17 Youth Championship in Mauritius, where he won the Golden Boot award after scoring five goals to help Zambia win the tournament.
