MUZA FC and Zanaco settled for a 1-1 draw in their rescheduled Super League week one match on Wednesday at Nakambala Stadium.

The two teams, who each had a strong start, battled it out for 30 minutes without scoring before the bankers’ Chawanangwa Kaonga gave the visitors the lead in the 40th minute.

After the break, the home team came back under heavy pressure and in the 62nd minute, Andrew Phiri converted a penalty to even the score.

Zanaco assistant coach Henry Banda informed the media in a post-game interview that while the outcome was not what the squad had anticipated, the team’s overall effort was strong.

“We came here to gain the most points possible, but it’s a frustrating result because we started well and scored a goal, which was fantastic for us, but overall, the boys did well. Simply said, our opponents received a cheap penalty, claimed Banda.

Both sides aim for victory this weekend.

“We have started very well it’s a new team and are very young boys at least there is progression each and every player understands the philosophy of the team we need to convert the chances we are creating, “concluded the coach.

The bankers will now turn their attention to their upcoming assignment as they travel to the Copperbelt to play recently promoted outfit Trident FC in what is sure to be a thrilling matchup.
