After week three of the 2025–26 MTN Super League, Nchanga Rangers sit top of the table as the only team with a 100% record, boasting nine points from three matches and yet to concede a goal.
Central to their flying start is DR Congo striker Christopher Itaka, who leads the scoring charts with four goals. He has found the net in every game — once each against Mutondo Stars and Green Eagles, before netting a brace in Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Mufulira Wanderers at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola.
Rangers, two-time Super League champions (1980 and 1998), opened their campaign with a 2-0 win against Mutondo Stars and followed it up with a 1-0 away triumph over Green Eagles.
Next up for the Chingola side is a tough trip to Nkoloma Stadium in Lusaka to face Red Arrows on Saturday. Despite conceding in their last two games, Airmen coach Chisi Mbewe remains calm about the challenge posed by Itaka and Rangers.
“We have seen how Nchanga Rangers is playing, they have scored 7 goals and yet to concede, winning all the matches so far. They are playing good football and it is going to be an interesting match,” Mbewe said during a virtual pre-match press conference on Friday.
On Itaka, Mbewe revealed his side has prepared specifically to stop the striker.
“Currently he is the top scorer, with four goals. We have worked on how to stopped him. We know that if you give him space, he will punish you. We have prepared.”
