Masauso Tembo, head coach of the Green Buffaloes, says the squad will try hard to return after a disappointing season.
In their Week 33 match at Edwin Imboela Stadium, the six-time Zambian champions defeated Forest Rangers 1-0. Chilimba Moonga scored the winning in the 86th minute.
The Zambia-Army-sponsored team has had a dismal season, winning 10 games, drawing 11, and losing 12.
With the win over Forest Rangers, they moved up to 10th place with 41 points from three games, sealing their place in the Super League.
“What was important was to get the three points,” Tembo told reporters after the match. “If you look at the log, I think this season we haven’t really done well, especially in the away games only winning one which is very bad. But am happy with what happened, we continue looking forward to the last game against Trident.”
He continued: “That’s why this game was very important I think Forest came with a plan, I think they wanted to work on counter attacks long balls from first half they suck back, but I encouraged my boys to be patient and knock the ball around. Let’s deny our opponents the ball a goal will come. First half we would have gone 1-nil up.”
Green Buffaloes’ final game of the season will be against already relegated Trident FC on Saturday.
