Power Dynamos assistant coach Linos Makwaza Senior has expressed confidence in the team’s potential to perform well in the upcoming CAF Champions League season.
After clinching the MTN Super League title, Aba Yellow will represent Zambia in Africa’s premier club competition. Makwaza believes that with the right additions to the current squad, Power Dynamos can surpass their previous performance, where they were eliminated in the pre-group stage two years ago.
“Going forward [after the league triumph], if we reinforce the team, we will go far in the continental championship,” he told the club’s media.

Makwaza, a former league champion with Power Dynamos both as a player and coach, also praised head coach Oswald Mutapa for the team’s recent success, citing his impact on discipline and work ethic within the squad.
“The coming on of coach Oswald Mutapa brought a new dimension to the team. He brought in discipline, hard work, and team spirit…. And it has given us the results to win the league,” he stated.
What’s the club’s plan?
Head coach Mutapa outlined the type of players he hopes to add to the squad ahead of next season.
“Our aim is to dominate the league. We have shown that we can win, so we need to beef up with players that are human in that they need to associate with the others, not bring in players that will feel comfortable on their own. Football is played as a team sport… So we need players that will help us win as a team,” Mutapa said.
Meanwhile, reflecting on his achievement, Makwaza said winning the league title as a coach holds special significance.
“I’ve played all my football for Dynamos. Winning the league as a player is different from winning the league as a coach. That’s why it is very important for me. I’m happy for myself to have won the league as a coach twice.”
