Jimmy Mukeya of Napsa Stars has revealed plans to create an orphanage. A personal project that was motivated by his own challenging upbringing, which included losing both of his parents in the same year.

Mukeya tragically lost his father in December of 2021 after losing his mother in March of the same year.

Speaking candidly to the club’s media about his personal journey, Mukeya described how losing both his parents nearly put an end to his football dreams.

“It was hard for me to concentrate with football,” he recalled. “But my grandmother encouraged me a lot. She told me, ‘Just continue playing.’”

Mukeya adds that the hope he witnessed in orphaned children during a visit to an orphanage and the emotional support he received during difficult times shaped his decision to give back by inspiring him to create an orphanage.

“There are situations where, on your own, you just can’t manage,” he said. “But with God, you continue pushing. When I saw how children in orphanages talk, live, and find hope despite having nothing, it touched me deeply.”

“If I achieve something I would just open an orphanage – whereby I would help a lot of people. At least my parents left me in a position where I could take care of myself. But I think of those who have no one, and that’s what drives me. If I achieve something, I must use it to help them. It’s not about what I’ve lost, it’s about what I can give,” he said.
