Following the departure of coach George Lwandamina, who has rejoined Zesco United, Kabwe Warriors Football Club has been forced to appoint their second assistant coach, Happy Sichikolo, as interim coach to oversee the team until a new coach is recruited.

Kabwe Warriors chairman Mutale N’gandu says Lwandamina’s departure comes as the team finishes the first round of the season, so coach Happy Sichikolo will take over for the time being as they look for a new coach.

“Chambishi Sichikolo was in charge last week when we played, and he should be on the bench as interim coach this Saturday when we finish our first half of the season,” N’gandu stated.

“Definitely, we are looking for a replacement, and fortunate enough, it’s actually coming at a time when we are having the January transfer window, so basically the coach that we may bring in will also look at the tools that are available, and we are going to fuse in a few players if he so wishes.”

Meanwhile, Lwandamina has moved on with his former club Zesco United and was officially introduced to the players in Ndola, where he said he has unfinished business with the nine-time Zambian champions and challenged the players to build a successful legacy at the club.

“I think you know where we took Zesco United during my time here. I feel like we can do it again. I am happy to be back here because I feel we still have unfinished business. I spoke with the players about the importance of reclaiming our fearsome reputation at both the local and international levels,” he said.

Lwandamina, who took over as coach of the Kabwe Warriors at the start of the season, was in charge for 16 games and only managed one win, leaving them in the relegation zone.

He received harsh criticism from fans who wanted him to leave the club due to a poor run of results.
