Trident FC head coach Kebby Hachipuka believes his side has found a starting point for the season after picking up their first point in a goalless draw against NAPSA Stars in a Week 2 MTN Super League encounter on Sunday.
The Conquerors settled for a share of the spoils at their Sentinel stadium coming straight from a 1-0 defeat to Nkana Football Club on Matchday One.
Hachipuka said his players had put in a strong effort against NAPSA Stars but lacked the composure and finishing required to turn their chances into goals.
“It was a tough game. Despite the draw, I think the boys have done everything. Looking at the build-up and creation of goals, I think we have just failed to score,” he said.
The coach noted that Trident performed reasonably well in defense, midfield, and goalkeeping, but execution in front of goal remained a major concern.
“All the boys have played. I think we just lacked composure in front of goal. We will continue working on our strikers,” Hachipuka said.
“Defence-wise and goalkeeping were okay. Midfield was okay, but what remained was just some execution in front of the goal.”
Trident facesface two challenging away fixtures against Nchanga Rangers and defending champions Power Dynamos as they seek to build on their first point of the season.
Despite the difficult assignments, Hachipuka said he was encouraged by the team’s performance against NAPSA Stars and believes the result provides a foundation for improvement.
“I think it’s two tricky away fixtures, but in football, there is nothing like playing away. I’ve seen what the boys have done today. In this draw, I think we have found where to start from now,” he said.
