On Saturday, Kabwe Warriors Football Club beat Mutondo Stars 3-2 moving to second position in Stream B of the FAZ -MTN super league standings at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu Stadium.
The Magnificent People’s team returned to winning ways after recording Week One 1-1 draw against Zesco United last weekend.
Field Kandela’s 57th goal and Paul Tembo’s brace in the 81st and 88th minutes gave Kabwe Warriors a much-needed victory.
The victory has pushed Warriors to second place on the log with four points from two games played so far.
However, in response to the result, Head Coach George Chilufya stated that the team will remain grounded and focused on the next game.
“We remain humble and we keep the focus. I think we build on the win. “We are aware of the challenges ahead; we must stay focused,” he said.
Chilufya underscored that the outcome of the game matched the team’s expectations and that it was a well-played game.
“It was a good game; we expected this. I am happy with the response from the boys. I’m sure you saw we conceded in the first five minutes, but it’s a new team; we keep going,” he added.
Next, Kabwe Warriors will shift their attention to their third super league match as they face Chirundu United.
