The Zambian Super League lost a number key players in the aftermath of the 2023–24 winter transfer window.

From creative playmakers to prolific goal scorers, several megastars have opted to ply their trade outside the Zambian top flight in 2024.

With the league season having resumed after its break, fans will be expecting to see players left to fill the void left by their game-changers.

Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba

Zesco United football club will have to learn to live without Kelvin Kampamba’s creative playmaking and trademark long throws. The two-time COSAFA Cup winner left Zega Mambo to join Libya’s Al Nasr SC in January. He was Ndola base side’s top scorer in the 2023–24 league season with seven goals.

Freddy Michael Kouablan

For the second campaign in succession, the Zambian Super League lost its league top scorer to a Tanzanian giant. Roughly a year after Kennedy Musonda left Power Dynamos FC for Yanga SC, Green Eagles FC marksman Freddy Michael Kouablan joined Simba SC. The Ivorian comfortably led the Golden Boot race in the Zambian league with 14 goals.

Joseph Sabobo Banda

The youngster finally made his long-awaited move to Switzerland after clocking 18 years old in December. Joseph Banda, better known as ‘Sabobo’, joined Swiss topflight side FC Zurich on a five-year deal from Atletico Lusaka. Prior to the transfer, Sabobo was on loan at Zambian Super League outfit Nkwazi FC.

Moyela Libamba

Fresh from winning the COSAFA Cup, ABSA Cup, and Zambian Charity Shield titles in 2023, Libamba left for South Africa this year.

The former Forest Rangers FC striker will now be representing Lamontville Golden Arrows FC in the Premier Soccer League. Only Fashion Sakala and Patson Daka registered more goals for club and country in 2023 than Libamba.
