FC Muza captain Kelvin Mwanza claims his team has moved on from its ABSA Cup semifinal exit.

He said they are now focused on qualifying for next season’s continental football.

Muza is currently third in the Zambian Super League, having scored 49 points in 29 games.

To finish in the league’s top two standings and qualify for the Caf Confederations Cup, the Elegant Dynamites must win all five of their remaining games while hoping Zesco drops points.

Mwanza tells Bolanews that the team understands what is at stake and will fight to the end.

“That was a cup game and sadly, we didn’t make it to the finals,” he said. “But now we shift our focus to the league. We have a chance to play [CAF] Confederation [Cup] and we will do our best.

Mwanza continued: “We are Muza FC, and everything is possible. We can deliver on any given day and I’m 100% sure that we will qualify for Confederation this season.”.

The Mazabuka-based side was eliminated from the 2024 ABSA Cup after losing 2-1 to Kabwe Warriors on Saturday.

They will face second-placed Zesco United next Wednesday, as the battle for the top-two finish gets heated.

“The preparations are going on so well… We know what next week’s game means to us as a team and we are doing our best,” said Mwanza on facing Zesco.

The Muza captain has featured in 14 matches and scored three goals—one in the league and two in the ABSA Cup—with three assists.
