During his tenure as Chairman, Eagles won a bronze medal at the Cecafa regional Championship and secured three consecutive CAF qualifications.

He also made history by becoming the first Chairman to qualify the team to their first CAF Champions League group appearance.

Speaking to Bolanews exclusively, Green Eagles goalkeeper, Given Kaambila, remembers the late Chairman for his dedication to the game and his generous heart of helping players.

“Many players where not employed, but through him he made sure that everyone connected to the team would speak the same language,”said Kaambila.

In the meantime, Zambian FA president Andrew Kamanga says football has been robbed of a great mind that contributed so much to the game.

“On behalf of the FAZ executive committee, the football family and myself, I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences to Green Eagles Football Club, the ZNS command and the family of Brigadier General Kafumukache on the death of one of football’s loyalest servants,” says Kamanga.

“We were lucky that at the time of the deceased’s service to the game, we collaborated very closely as he was always available for football gatherings in good and bad times. We will remember him fondly for being part of Green Eagles Football Club’s glorious period that saw them participate in CAF competitions.”

Meanwhile, Kaambila, has played seven matches for Eagles, kept two clean sheets for the Choma based side, this season. Green Eagles will face Red Arrows in a military derby on Saturday at Nkoloma Stadium.
