The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has lodged a complaint with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Disciplinary Committee against Super League side Power Dynamos following a fracas during their Week 18 match against Red Arrows.
Last month, the top-of-the-table midweek clash between hosts Red Arrows and Power Dynamos was marred by violence after a supporter allegedly invaded the pitch in an attempt to assault the match official.
What followed was a serious clash between the two sets of supporters, an incident that has drawn the attention of ZPL.
Several fans were injured during the disturbances and had to be rushed to Levy Mwanawasa Teaching Hospital for treatment.
Now Bolanews understands that ZPL, the runners of the league, have written to the FAZ disciplinary committee accusing Power of being the instigators of the violence.
In a letter addressed to the FAZ general secretary, dated February 27, ZPL chief executive officer Joseph Chimpampwe said Power violated a number of regulations.
“We write as Zambian Premier League to formally lodge a violation of regulations against Power Dynamos Football Club and it’s supporters following the serious incidents of misconduct during the Week 18 MTN Super League fixture against Red Arrows FC on 26th February 2026.,” the letter read in part.
Power responsible for fans’ behaviour – ZPL
According to the complaint, a Power supporter invaded the pitch in the 3rd minute of added time and physically assaulted referee Chisha Emmanuel by slapping him.
The letter further details that fans engaged in violent confrontations with Red Arrows supporters, causing crowd disorder and injuries, and discharged prohibited pyrotechnics inside the stadium.
Chimpampwe cited several violations of the FAZ Disciplinary Code and league rules, including strict liability for supporter conduct, misconduct against match officials, use of prohibited items, and incitement of hatred and violence.
He stated that clubs are responsible for the behavior of their supporters, regardless of the match location.
Meanwhile, Bolanews understands that FAZ has written to Power and handed the club 72 hours to exculpate themselves.
