ZESCO United head coach Mwenya Chipepo has described his side’s upcoming clash against Green Eagles as a do-or-die affair as they seek their first win of the 2026 Transitional League season.
The nine-time league champions will host Green Eagles in their second fixture of the campaign at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium on Saturday.
ZESCO United head into the encounter following a 1-1 draw against Kabwe Warriors last weekend and will be eager to bounce back as they look to put last season’s disappointing campaign behind them.

Speaking to the club’s media ahead of the match, Chipepo declared his side ready for the challenge.
“We are ready for the game. We were looking for three points in Kabwe last week, but it wasn’t easy playing at Railway Ground,” he said.
“This is like a cup final because you know Green Eagles is a good side. For them to beat Mufulira Wanderers away from home, it means that they are fighting for something big,” added Chipepo.
The former Power Dynamos and Nkana FC coach also emphasised the importance of securing maximum points at home as ZESCO United seek to build momentum.
“Playing at home picking three points will be very important for the team. We want somewhere to start from.”
A victory on Saturday would give ZESCO United a timely confidence boost and provide a foundation for a stronger campaign as they aim to maintain consistent performances throughout the season.
