Zesco United striker, Enock Sakala says his team will sufficiently prepare to represent the country in the CAF Confederations Cup.
The based club and the newly crowned Zambian Super League champions, Red Arrows will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup and Champions League, respectively.
Zesco who ended the season with a 2-0 loss to Mufulira Wanderers on Sunday, finished second with 59 points from 34 matches, securing qualification for the Confederations Cup.
Sakala was the closest to Golden Boot winner Micheal Kouablan, who lit up the first half of the season by scoring 14 goals for the Green Eagles before joining Tanzanian club Simba SC. The 19-year-old had 12 goals in the just ended season.
Sakala scored four goals in Zesco United’s week-33 match against Trident FC, securing their CAF Confederations Cup spot.
In an exclusive interview with Bolanews, Sakala described his season as both good and competitive.
“It was a good, but tough season will keep fighting and pushing to perform better next season,” he said.
He is confident Zesco will have enough time to prepare for the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
“I’m not promising how far the team will go, but we will prepare very well so that we represent the country well. This is off-season but we start preparing for continental football immediately after we resume training,” said Sakala.
