He admits his injury impacted the team’s performance, contributing to their failure to qualify for continental football despite briefly topping the league earlier in the season.

Nkana Football Club defender Chitoshi Chinga has opened up about his personal disappointment following an injury-hit MTN Super League season.

Kalampa’s hopes of securing a spot in CAF interclub competitions were dashed after a 5-2 defeat to FC MUZA in a Week 33 fixture, which confirmed their elimination from continental contention.

In an interview with BolaNews, Chinga expressed his frustration over the challenges he faced but emphasized his determination to bounce back stronger and help the team challenge for the league title next season.

“The season for me wasn’t too good because I got injured and personally didn’t achieve what I had planned when starting the season,” the defender admitted.

“If I say I’m happy, I would lie to you personally because we had a target as a team, and we didn’t achieve it. I feel my injury cost the team, and it feels bad because I got injured when we got on top, and it’s like I let the team and supporters down when I got injured.”

Lessons learnt – Chinga

Despite the setbacks and disappointments, Chinga also shared some lessons picked up during the season, both on an individual and club level.

“There are a lot of positive lessons I have learnt, and on a personal level, it’s to work towards them, and as for the team, yeah, we have learnt, and we are going to work hard so that we start on a good note coming next season,” he said.

“My hopes for next season are the league because we have very supportive fans, and they deserve to be rewarded with a trophy.”

“To our supporters, I personally thank you for the great support and job you are doing. Without you, we are nothing, and thanks for being with us in everything, and we appreciate you so much,” he concluded.
