Mphasi to join an Israeli team from Kabwe Warriors

Mphasi featured twice for Kabwe since switching from Shamuel, against Trident and Mighty Mufulira Wanderers.

Chikondi Mphasi, a striker from Malawi who currently plays for Zambia’s Kabwe Warriors, has moved to Israel to join an undisclosed team.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has confirmed the development after the player’s name was not appearing in the Afcon Qualifiers squad to face Guinea this Saturday at Bingu National Stadium in Malawi.

Missing from the squad is striker Gabadinho Mhango plays for Swallows of South Africa and Khuda Myaba who is now in Syria.

Gomezgani Zakazaka, the director of FAM’s communications, told The Nation in Malawi that interim coach Patrick Mabedi had considered Mphasi but later learned the player was traveling to Israel.

“When we reached out to Kabwe Warriors, they informed us that the player was due to fly to Israel to sign the contract, ” added Zakazaka.

Asking which team, he is joining in Israel, Mphasi confirmed securing a visa but said he will be comfortable to tell us which club he has joined upon signing of the contract.

Mphasi featured twice for Kabwe since switching from Shamuel, against Trident and Mighty Mufulira Wanderers, where he was named match of the match after coming off the bench to aid his team in a 2-1 victory.
