Chiefs and Nchanga Rangers failed to agree on Saile’s asking price

Kaizer Chiefs and Nchanga Rangers FC failed to reach an agreement over the asking price of Congolese winger Christian Saile after successfully attending trials.

Despite impressing the Arthur Zwane-led technical bench during his trial at the DSTV Premiership side, Christian Saile, the captain of Zambian Super League’s Nchanga Rangers FC, was unable to complete his transfer to Kaizer Chiefs.

Although Saile, who is back in Zambia and already training with his Rangers side, is reported to have had a successful trip to South Africa, the two teams’ inability to come to an agreement on the transfer fee was the major setback, BolaNews can confirm.

The Chingola-based club has a very high asking price for the Congolese player, and Amakhosi were hesitant to spend a lot of money on the winger.

“Christian Saile had a great outing in South Africa, he impressed the chiefs technical bench, but they were put off by the pricing, Nchanga Rangers wanted more than $ 1.5 million dollars for him, and as a result Chiefs were reluctant to pay such an amount and another factor is that their coach Zwane wasn’t interested in signing a winger but a center forward is what he wanted,” said the source.

For the past three weeks, Chiefs have been assessing the Congolese striker after he was invited to attend trials. The Soweto giants were looking to bolster their striking force, which consists of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Ashley Du Preez. However, the duo sustained injuries, and Zwane is looking for a backup striker.

Saile is the current leading scorer with five goals this season at Nchanga Rangers, and he was also instrumental last season when he helped them gain promotion to the Zambian Super League after scoring 19 goals, which saw him win the Golden Boot award.
